Dr. Samuel M. Fisler was born in the New Jersey and removed from Port Elizabeth to Smyrna in 1820. He was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in 1819 and a member of the Delaware Medical Society in 1822. He married Susan H., daughter of John and Susan Cummins, of Smyrna. His father was a physician and local Methodist preacher in Port Elizabeth, New Jersey, and a brother, Lorenzo, was a practicing physician in Camden, N.J. Dr. Samuel Fisler died in May, 1868, aged seventy-one years, and was buried in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Smyrna
