      Bennett, Andrew, Douglas twp.; farmer, Sec. 2; P.O. Winterset; owns 130 acres of land;
      he married Miss Mary E. Gideon in 1860; has seven children: Zetta, Orzella, Sierra
      Nevada, Marquis A., Alfred L., Friend, George N. and Gerald; Mr. Bennett is an
      intelligent, affable man, who stands high in the estimation of his neighbors; has held
      various offices of trust in the township and has been a member of the board of supervisors
      several times.

    2. [S8072066242] Winterset Madisonian.
      Andrew Bennett died at his home 6 miles NW of Winterset, Iowa, December 14, 1905. Andrew, the son of Jacob and Susan Bennett, was born in Marion Co., Indiana, October 22, 1835. With his parents he came to Madison Co., Iowa the fall of 1852. The family located 2 miles north of Andrew's late home at which place he grew to manhood. In 1860, he was married to Mary E. Gideon, to which union 9 children were born, 8 of whom are still living and with the exception of one daughter all reside in the vicinity of the parental home. Andrew Bennett moved to his late home about 40 years ago and although never a member of any church, he lived a life so honorable and upright that his family and neighbors speak of him, only in terms of highest praise. He has been in failing health for 3 years past, and during the last few months of his life his sufferings were intense, yet he was cheerful to the end and bore his afflictions without a murmur. In compliance with his request, no sermon was delivered at the funeral, but instead an address was given by Dr. Weir of Winterset. . The funeral was attended by a large number of relatives and friends.
